- STORY TIME (AUG 21, 1988)
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
- First off I'd like to thank the sysop of USA bbs - Dr. J for his many
- helpful suggestions and his active help in beta testing each version
- of STORY TIME. I'd also like to thank the users of USA for their
- contributions and creative writing skills.
-
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
- Story Time includes the following improvements...
-
- User name stamping on story compositions. (1.1)
-
- You can now put the files (except STORY.INF) any place you want, on any
- active valid drive or sub-directory. (1.1)
-
- You can now have up to 10 different active stories. (1.2)
-
- You can now choose your own time limits and warning messages. (1.2)
-
- And (most asked for) WORD WRAP! (1.2)
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------
- Registered users can get updates...
-
- Updates are $5 and a blank disk if by U.S. mail.
-
- Updates are free if sent as encrypted arc files via F-net.
- (Registered users who wish to use this method send S.A.S.E. with
- your F-net number and I will return your individual encryption key.)
- This is providing your bbs is in the USA road map of nodes.
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------
- I am currently working on time and date stamping of compositions.
- and a READ NEW command.
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------
- In this arc file you will find the following files:
-
- STORY.DOC
- STORY.TOS
- STORYCFG.PRG
- HA_MAN.TTL
- HA_MAN.DAT
-
- STORY.DOC is this text file.
-
- STORY.TOS is a SHARE WARE program written for FOREM ST bbs use
- as a DOOR. What it does is stimulate the creative juices of the bbs
- users. They get to read the current stories (up to 10) and add their
- own (what happens next) to the stories. This can be quite fun when
- several creative users get going on a story.
-
- STORYCFG.PRG is a program that the sysop needs to run in the root
- directory of the BBS. After the sysop follows all the prompts the
- resulting file STORY.INF should be found or moved to the root directory.
- (usually C:\BBS\ )
-
- HA_MAN.TTL is a sample title screen for the HA MAN sample story.
-
- HA_MAN.DAT is the beginning scene for my sample story.
-
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- I have tested this very thouroghly on a friends bbs.
- but for legal reasons must include the following statements:
-
- There is no warranty express or implied, with respect to the included
- programs. It is the sole responsibility of the user to determine the
- suitability of these programs for any use. In no case will I be held
- liable for direct, indirect or incidental damages resulting from any
- defect or omission in the manual (this text file) or other related
- items or processes, including but not limited to, any interruption
- of service, loss of business, anticipated profit, or other consequential
- damages.
-
- Also this program is not a public domain program and is (C) 1988
- Released as Share Ware this means no one should charge you for this
- program, but you are free to upload it to any BBS as long as you
- include this doc file and all the other support files when you do.
-
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- If you use these programs on your BBS, please feel obliged to register
- their ownership with me. The method of doing this is quite easy. Just
- send me $5 at the address below. For those of you who wish to have
- your own title screen appear to the users, send $10 along with a text
- file or VT52 screen file, on disk (formatted single sided please) to:
-
-
- John Pendzich
- 31121 Nelson Dr.
- Warren MI, 48093
-
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------
- For those of you who participate in the F-Net you can reach me on
- USA BBS Node #137 as user John Pendzich.
-
- If you get what you think is a real good story going, you can submit
- it to me via the F-Net (or through mail) as an entry into the STORY TIME
- writers contest. The best submissions will receive either a free
- registration, or if a registered user submits a winning entry they
- get a free update. I will make these story files available upon
- request.
-
- Thank you for your support. I hope you enjoy using this as much as
- I do writing it.

- John Pendzich
